Watch desk
Watch desk

Market-cap insurance for ASX-listed companies.

Short-and-distort campaigns and false narratives move retail forums—and your share price—before anyone in the company is watching. The desk watches the narrative, ties it to the tape, and turns it into a response your board and the regulator can act on.

The attack starts where no one's looking

A coordinated bear narrative on HotCopper. A short report dropped on X. New accounts piling on with the same talking points. By the time it reaches your desk, the price has already moved.

Australia's incumbents don't help. Register-surveillance firms watch the tape, not the forums. AlphaSense reads filings, not HotCopper. Social-listening tools treat retail forums as noise and know nothing about ASX rules. And the activism-defense advisers are priced for billion-dollar proxy fights—not for the small and mid-caps that short-and-distort actually targets.

The math that makes it cheap

A coordinated campaign can take 10–20% off a small-cap's price—millions in market cap on an unanswered narrative. Defending even a fraction of that is worth many times the cost of watching for it.

The desk is priced against an IR retainer, not an enterprise platform. It pays for itself the first time it catches an attack early.

One command centre for your whole narrative

Forums, news, social, announcements, and the tape—watched together, scored, and turned into action.

📡

Multi-source monitoring

HotCopper and Aussie Stock Forums as deep forums, plus Reddit, financial news, and ASX announcements—one branded feed with sentiment per source.

📈

Forum-to-tape

Forum sentiment and post volume on one timeline with the share price and ASIC daily short interest. See what moved when—temporal association you can act on, never a claim of causation.

🚩

Coordinated-attack detection

Finds small, tight rings of net-negative accounts co-posting with shared scripting—real coordination, not just loud regulars—and scores the manipulation likelihood.

Regulator-ready dossier

One click compiles the evidence into a paste-ready ASIC misconduct report and an ASX Listing Rule 3.1B clarification draft, mapped to the relevant Corporations Act sections.

Official-response drafting

Assembles your on-the-record reply: an ASX clarification (LR 3.1B), a moderator takedown request, and an ASIC referral—sourced and logged. The desk drafts the record; your authorised officer signs and lodges it. We never post on forums on your behalf.

📋

Board reports & alerts

A one-click board report and real-time alerts when sentiment spikes or a coordinated push begins. Hand your directors evidence, not anecdotes.

Built for the ASX—and only the ASX

Every defensible feature is anchored in Australian law and market structure. US-built tools structurally can't follow.

Listing Rule 3.1 / GN8

ASX expects listed entities to monitor forums for leaks and false markets. We watch for both—and guard against a director's own post becoming a selective-disclosure breach.

Corporations Act s1041

The forum-post manipulation offences—under which ASIC has already secured convictions built on HotCopper posts. We flag the sections ASIC may wish to assess—decision-support, never a finding of guilt.

ASIC reporting mechanics

ASIC's misconduct form takes no attachments. Our dossier is paste-ready by design—the evidence pattern its cases actually rely on.

Questions a board will ask

We'd rather answer the hard ones up front.

Is this legal? Are you helping us manipulate the market?+

No. The desk is built to be the defense against manipulation, not a way to do it. The Watch tier only observes public posts and never posts anything. ASX's own Guidance Note 8 expects listed entities to monitor forums for false markets — that's exactly what this is.

When you choose to respond, every reply is factual, sourced to already-public information, reviewed and approved by your authorised representative, and logged. We require your own legal sign-off on the response policy before the posting tier is switched on. We provide decision-support and the audit trail, not legal advice.

How is this different from astroturfing?+

Astroturfing is undisclosed, coordinated, often false. This is the opposite: your own authorised voice, correcting factual errors about your own company, sourced to public filings, on the record. The line is disclosure and truth — and we hold it with hard rails: public-source-only, human approval, full logging.

Where does your data come from?+

Public forum posts, public ASIC daily short-position reports, and public ASX price data — everything links back to its source. We work with data partners and pursue licensing with the platforms we monitor, so coverage is durable and above-board.

Does responding actually move the price?+

We don't promise a price effect, and you should be wary of anyone who does. What we promise: you'll know early, know who and what is driving it, have a factual response ready in your voice, and hold board- and regulator-ready evidence. The value is detection, attribution, speed, and defensibility.

Won't it flag legitimate critics, or cry wolf?+

It's deliberately tuned conservative. A few negative threads is not "bearish"; high-volume regulars are not "attackers"; only clear rule-breaches are flagged as reportable; and coordination requires tight, same-thread co-posting — not just shared vocabulary. Nothing is acted on automatically — a person reviews everything. We surface signal; we never suppress legitimate criticism.

Who can see our data, and where is it stored?+

Your data is isolated to your company and accessed over a private, authenticated connection. For listed-entity requirements we can host in an Australian region. Nothing is shared across customers.

Why can't our comms team just watch the forums themselves?+

They can't watch every venue around the clock, correlate sentiment to ASIC short interest and price, detect coordination across accounts, read screenshot attacks, or compile a regulator-ready dossier in minutes. One person with a browser is what gets blindsided — that's the gap we close.

Can we start small?+

Yes. Most companies start on Watch — observation only, no posting, a live desk on your ticker — and step up to Defend or Crisis only if and when they need to. We'll stand up a real desk on your stock before you commit to anything.

Legitimacy is the product

The desk observes public forums—it does not post, vote, or message. Every figure links to its public source. Any corrective response is factual, sourced to public information, reviewed and approved by an authorised representative, and logged. It's the defensible counter to manipulation, not more of it.
